Young Artist's Studio-Join Anytime

Recommended ages: 5 - 10

Young people come to an open studio setting to learn and refine artistic skills with artists instructor Paul Hoelscher. The idea behind this ongoing class is to help young people make art the way that most interests them, with an artist who believes that everyone is artistic and who has enough personal experience to be supportive of many media and techniques. Media include acrylic, oil, and watercolor paint, soft and oil pastels, charcoal, graphite, contè, colored pencil, and clay sculpture. Come and create – the sky’s the limit! Paul is a working professional artist and summer has him traveling to shows. At this time, we have Paul gone on May 26-27, June 2-3, June 30, July 1, July 7-8, July 14-15, August 11-12. Please call in as Paul maybe adding more shows. Open to kids 10 years old.

Notes: All classes are designed to be ‘Family Friendly’ and ideal for parent-child combinations to experience art together. Children 12 and over are welcome alone, under 12 with a parent. All classes are single, one-lesson, projects with the option to finish at home if necessary. Most make use of recycled materials. Course Description: This class is a spin-off from February’s Trash to Mask workshop! We will create flowers from recycled plastic, wood, and metal with the intent to ‘decorate’ some of the planter boxes along Main Street. Bring the whole family and an abundance of ‘materials’ and work together to create a variety of flower forms! (Special $15 family price for this activity!)

Course Description: Dreamcatchers are a beautiful Native American craft, originally hung over the infant cradles to provide a path for spirits to leave during sleep. They make amazing decorations when crafted from natural or recycled materials.

This is a ‘repeat’ class in making three different types of flowers from scrap magazine paper. Another perfect opportunity to recycle materials around the house into beautiful permanent flower arrangements! For ages 6-11. Like to dance to fun pop music? Try the new Hip Hop dance class, fun, easy, and it’ll get your kids moving. Basic Hip-Hop dance moves for beginners. We will learn a routine and perform it at the end of the course. Boys and Girls are welcome! No Break dancing allowed due to the floors at Crossroads.

Equipment needed: Clean tennis shoes and no jeans. Clothing that is easy to move in.

Ms. Amy will return this summer for four weeks of a dance camp. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Dance Camp! The students will be taught a variety of dance forms from Latin to hip hop, ballet, with contemporary, and lyrical styles fused in. The children need no experience. The classes are fun, a lot of work, a great workout, and the children respond well to my style of teaching which includes discipline and structure. The class mantra is to believe in one’s self. Students need or are encouraged to dress in all black: leggings, t-shirt and a soft shoe (no sneakers) are requested. Tee shirts from “Ms. Amy’s dance school” are available for sale, as well as photos of the children will also be taken during camp and will be available for purchase as well at the end of the session. Limited only by the kiln size and your imagination. I will meet you for 2-10 sessions to help you reach your learning goal and achieve your final project goal.
