Jessie Swimeley
Jessie Swimeley loves finding significance in semmingly insignificant details. There is great joy in the rich textures and patterns that make up patina of life. Over the past eight years her photographic practice has evolved into something she likes to call Photography And. Jessie uses encaustic (bees wax), embroidery, and printmaking to enhance her photographs and cyanotypes. Pairing photographic work with other mediums gives her images a chance to tell a story in vibrant new ways.
Jessie is a contemporary printmaker, photographer and mixed media artist. Growing up in Wyoming she developed a deep love of the high plains desert, from the abandondoned places to the native plants her work embodies her deep connection with the American West. Jessie recieved her BA in Photography from the University of Oregon. Her work has been displayed in exhibits and galleries throughout the United states. Jessie is a member of Boise Open Studios, Treasure Valley Artists Alliance, and the Nature Printing Society. She currently lives and works in Caldwell, Idaho with her family and their four cats.
