"Years ago I moved to Idaho from the Southeast, where everything is lushly green and the water is silty and opaque. Idaho is so different! I was captivated right away by the big open skies, sweeping curves of desert plateaus, and crystal clear rivers. The amount of water in this very arid landscape fascinated me from the start and still does. I rarely paint a landscape that doesn't have a river in it, and find that sometimes I have to make a conscious effort to paint a scene without one. I have also come to see and appreciate all the subtle colors in the desert landscape, and the way the perception of mood seems to shift with every gust of wind. We live in such a beautiful place and I'm compelled to share, as best I can, those scenes and moments that continue to take my breath away."
