“Harvest of Words: A Taste of Baker County and Oregon Authors”

Crossroads Carnegie Art Center and Betty’s Books are very honored to welcome you to our first annual “Harvest of Words: A Taste of Baker County and Oregon Authors.” 

All community members are invited to enjoy the beautiful 1909 Carnegie Library Building and Community Art Center that is welcoming 12 authors who will be meeting guests, reading from their work, signing books and engaging in lovely conversation!

"While my work is my own unique style, having a linear quality from the silk painting days, I am most deeply influenced by the impressionists. I love complex, vibrant color and mix my palette from the primaries. I strive to paint in a way that evokes poetry more than prose…the feeling of a place rather than a literal interpretation. I strive to capture both the energy and peacefulness of nature through small brushes and energetic brushwork. My goal is to create art that fits comfortably in any decor and is timeless in nature, outlasting passing fads and styles. As with any language, there is always more to learn, and more to say… I love being an artist!"  Maia Leisz

Taste of Baker:

"Taste of Baker is a cornerstone event for Baker City Downtown and our community. With over 2,000 attendees each year, this family-friendly event is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, showcasing Baker County food and beverage makers. During this annual event, participating vendors line the streets of downtown and offer sample size bites of their tastiest recipes in exchange for tokens. This year is the 28th annual Taste of Baker event and we cannot wait to have you join us in celebrating community!"
