Artful Alchemy Fridays!
It’s Friday night, and you want to do something fun, but the usual options aren’t winning against the pull of pajamas and mindless TV? Maybe it’s time to try something different: come to Crossroads for some fun, relaxing, mildly magical making! Try new skills, improve old ones, or just play with art supplies. Meet new friends or sign up with a group you know and love hanging out with. Don’t just stay home and doom scroll when you can stroll on down to Crossroads!
NOTE: At least 1 student must be registered by 4pm the day before class. If you try to sign up later, the class may be canceled.
April 17 - Tiny Weaving Sampler
Doesn’t weaving look fun? Don’t those looms look bulky, though, and where would you stash a hoard of yarn, and what if you gather it all and then get bored and never finish? Relax! This tiny sampler gives you a taste of the weaving arts and basic techniques you can repeat without expensive looms or a huge stash of yarn.

April 24 - Easy Fabric Focal Beads
Can’t sew? No problem! This is the perfect class to learn to thread a needle, tie a knot, and then use that to assemble fabric and tiny beads into wearable art. Experienced stitchers will also enjoy a relaxing evening and walk away with a fresh eye for those pretty little scraps that are so hard to throw away.

May 8 - Intuitive Collage Inspiration/Divination Cards
Do tarot or angel cards intrigue you? Did you know you can make your own oracle cards? It’s fun, easy, relaxing, and a bowl of cards on your table will be a delight to visitors, as well as a source of inspiration, solace, and clarity for you. Materials provided, but bring a few personal favorite magazines to cut up, if you wish.

May 15 - Pine Needle Baskets (THIS CLASS WILL ALSO BE OFFERED ON JUNE 12!)
As promised, here it is again! Learn to make tiny baskets from simple materials. Once you know how, it’s a meditative way to while away a hot summer afternoon, and a perfect craft to take along on a camping trip, if you’re the sort who just wants to sit quietly under the trees while others chase fish or climb mountains.

May 22 - Stick Figure Spirit Dolls
Repeated as requested! Wrap up your hopes, dreams, and best intentions in an easy-to-make art doll. The basic structure is always the same; the basic materials are twigs, fabric, yarn, beads, and polymer clay faces, and yet no two spirit dolls are ever the same. Relaxing to make, and as whimsical or deeply meaningful as you wish.

May 29 - Easiest Handbound Journal
So easy, 6-year-olds have made them! So lovely, any adult would want one. Whether you want a writing journal, an art journal, or a junk journal, this is just about the easiest way to make one. Materials are provided, but you can bring your own fabric for covering the outside, or papers for pages, if you have specific desires.

June 12 - Pine Needle Baskets
As promised, here it is again! Learn to make tiny baskets from simple materials. Once you know how, it’s a meditative way to while away a hot summer afternoon, and a perfect craft to take along on a camping trip, if you’re the sort who just wants to sit quietly under the trees while others chase fish or climb mountains.

June 19 - Resin Flower Earrings & Charms
Learn to make charms from dried flowers and then turn these into gorgeous earrings, and/or pendants. These are less chunky than charms made in molds, so they're light on the ears. Students who took the last class will learn things not previously taught (and may be pleased to hear we got more curing lamps)!

June 26 - Hand-Dyed Sigil Flags
Learn to draw a sigil (that's a clever graphic shorthand for a prayer, mantra, or spell), and then transfer it to an 8" x 12" cotton flag. Then, we'll mix up Procion dyes and brush them on in watercolor fashion to create a bit of magical beauty to flutter in the breeze, indoors or out.

July 10 - Paper Collage Stickers
Turn tiny snippets of book pages, sheet music, photos, magazines, clip art, doodles, and more into stickers to use in your journals, tuck into snail mail, gift to kiddos, and maybe even make ahead for stocking stuffers. This one's addictive, but the supplies are inexpensive and locally sourced, so it's a craft habit you won't regret!

July 17 - Magazine Transfer Fabric Collage
Try a fun technique for transferring a magazine image onto fabric, then embellish it to create a truly unique piece of art using fabric scraps, bits of trim, and even buttons and beads, if you wish. Your finished piece can be hung loose, framed, or used to make a journal cover. Water resistant, but not machine washable.

July 24 - Copper & Glass Suncatcher
Copper foil is a rather retro material that really ought to make a comeback. Come try this easy project, and you may find a new obsession, with endless possibilities for newbie crafters and serious artists alike. The project shown is just one idea, and experienced crafters will likely have time to make more than one.

July 31 - Pie Crust Art
You've probably seen those gorgeous pies on Instagram or Pinterest, but if you've tried your hand at one, it might not have gone so well. There are a couple of secrets to success I'll be happy to share, along with all the ingredients to make a tasty 6" pie (raspberry, if the garden fates are with us) to take and bake at home.
August 14 - Mixed Media Bird Collage
If you're new to mixed media collage, this is a great intro! And if you've done it before, you already know this will be a super fun way to spend a Friday evening. Students can follow the sample, or use the big pile of supplies and the basic instructions to create something completely unique.

August 21 - Milagro-Inspired Charms
Sculpt a simple polymer clay shape, embellish it with a stamped message, tiny glass beads, and a few clay flourishes, and once it's baked, stain it to show off the details. While our clay is in the oven, we'll do a bit of glass bead and wire work to turn it into a finished necklace or drop-style ornament.

August 28 - Twig Weaving
This class always creates new weaving addicts. No special equipment is needed, so once you know the basics and a few tricks, you can source yarn from the local thrift stores or your knit and crochet friends' stashes, steal sticks from your favorite dog, and make one for every friend who admires the one you make in class!
