Beyond the Basics of Sewing!

Join us in this class designed to elevate your sewing skills! Students will learn how to read and follow a sewing pattern, including understanding pattern markings, choosing the correct size, laying out pattern pieces, cutting fabric accurately, and assembling a project step by step. Crossroads has four sewing machines available for use, or students may bring their own.

The instructor may have fabric available for purchase for $5/yard.

If students would like to make an apron:

  • Main Fabric (Apron + Facing): 1¼ yards
  • Ruffle Fabric: ⅞ yard

Tip: Choose one patterned fabric and one plain fabric for contrast.

If students would like to make a pillowcase using the burrito method:

You’ll need three coordinating fabrics:

  • Main Body: ¾ yard (patterned fabric)
  • Cuff: 12 inches (⅓ yard, plain fabric)
  • Trim: 2 inches (plain fabric)
