Exploring Illustration (Unplugged)
Ever wanted to illustrate your grandmother’s stories, a book of favorite recipes, or create really special holiday cards or even art to print on T-shirts, mugs, and more? Do you collect kids’ books, buy cookbooks for the charm factor, or purchase greeting cards with no intention of giving them away? Why not try your hand at a variety of illustration techniques and let this class finally get you started on making art that tells your story.
Think of Eric Carl’s very hungry tissue paper caterpillar, Mary Engelebreit’s winsome marker and colored pencil coziness, Susan Branch’s watercolored recipes, Salley Mavor’s intricately stitched scenes of birds and beds, Sandra Boynton’s hilarious line drawings, Nick Bantock’s pop-ups and oddities.
Whoever your favorite is, let them inspire you! This class starts with an overview of possibilities and students will help decide which techniques and mediums we sample in the remaining 9 weeks. This class does not cover any computer techniques.
