Artful Alchemy Fridays!

It’s Friday night, and you want to do something fun, but the usual options aren’t winning against the pull of pajamas and mindless TV? Maybe it’s time to try something different: come to Crossroads for some fun, relaxing, mildly magical making! Try new skills, improve old ones, or just play with art supplies. Meet new friends or sign up with a group you know and love hanging out with. Don’t just stay home and doom scroll when you can stroll on down to Crossroads!

NOTE: At least 1 student must be registered by 4pm the day before class. If you try to sign up later, the class may be canceled.

December 11 - Caroling Animals Ornaments

Make just one or start a choir of any animal(s) you adore! The body structure is the same for all of these watercolored paper animals and the technique for drawing sweet animal faces is beginner-friendly. Younger family members are welcome to come along this time, but everyone makes their own project.

December 18 - Covered Journal/Planner/Sketchbook

A covered book makes a great last-minute gift, or an intentional jump start to your New Year's resolution to journal, sketch, or curate a grimoire. Large sketchbook or mini-notebooks provided, but if you want specific paper, bring your own spiral-bound book. Beginner-friendly.

January 8 - 6 Book Making Techniques In One!

This folio uses a couple of bookbinding techniques and holds mini-books made with an array of others. It's a great overview of the simpler bookbinding methods, and students come away with a finished project ready to fill with words and pictures. Just teens and adults in this fast-paced class, please.

January 15 - Intention Or Spell Journal Page

Learn to use visual journaling to cast your intentions deeper and wider than a typical vision board. This mixed media class combines a bit of written meditation with a splash of paint and a big dash of collage. No journal? No problem! Mixed-media paper available for a poster version.

January 22 - Word Charm Bracelets

Choose your words wisely because wearing these charm bracelets just may set your personal magic in motion! Making these charm bracelets with resin, paper, wire, and beads will surely set your creative gears in motion. Beginner-friendly, but not a good class for younger family members.

January 29 - Tiny Shrines

Whether you want to create a complete shrine to honor something or someone you love, an altar on which to place changeable arrangements, or to simply play with this whimsical shadowbox format, this is such a fun way to spend a Friday evening. Younger kids are welcome to accompany you to this one.

February 12 - Heart Shaped Book

Make a sweet, heart-shaped blank book to keep or gift to someone you love! Students will have the option to create unique layered or tunnel style pages, and make a start at filling, colorizing or otherwise embellishing them. This class is strictly for teens and adults, due to the use of craft knives. Thanks.

February 19 - "In The Name Of Love" Journal Page

Get out your grimoire or art journal 'cause we are casting love spells! Nope, not gonna teach you to enchant anybody. This journal spread focuses on what we love and why, and how to be more of that in the world. Sound fun? Intriguing? Suspicious? Try it, you'll love it! Teen and adult.

February 26 - Animages

Got a spirit animal? An affinity for a particular furred, feathered or finned creature? This super fun paper-sculpture-meets-collage class is a great way to explore the symbolic and cultural meanings of your favorite animal, and then delve into what it means to you. Teens and adults; tweens okay with a parent.
